Evaluating AAC Device Interfaces
Spring 2005: Project Timeframe 3 weeks
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices help individuals in producing or understanding speech. The technology can range from a board with pictures representing daily needs to sophisticated electronic speech synthesizers. Whichever approach is used, the communication rate of the person using AAC devices is likely to be slow and using the aid will require a significant amount of cognitive and physical effort.
The purpose of this project is to evaluate existing AAC device interfaces and find ways of improving the user's interaction with the devices through access methods and practical experience. >> Download Research Paper |
