Cogtool Menu Structure Evalution
Fall 2006: Project Timeframe 8 weeks
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the organizational structure of contents in the menu structure of CogTool, a cognitive performance modeling program used for quantitative analysis of the usability of user interfaces. The card sorting method was used to involve participants in the organizational design of the menu structure.

Novice users sorted cards representing key functions of CogTool into groups.Cluster analysis was then performed across all participants' card groupings to produce cluster diagrams. By revealing the users' perceived relatedness of groups, proposed redesigns of the menu structure can be implemented that can meet users' expectations on the navigational design for a more usable application.
